BCI Adds New Products to Equip Existing Audi/Video Matrix Router/Switch Equipment with Fiber Optic Ports

Torrance, CA (PRWEB) March 9, 2007 -- Broadata Communications, Inc. (BCI) announces the release of the new MCP-1000 series which is a high-performance fiber optic audio/video (AV) media conversion center. The MCP-1000 transforms currently existing copper based AV matrix router/switches by functionally equipping them with fiber optic ports for long-distance, high-bandwidth audio/video transmission. The enabling of fiber optic ports in an as-needed, per-port, basis, allows the system designer or end-user the ability to designate one or all router/switch ports as fiber optic transmission. This provides for the greatest flexibility in configuring their AV matrix routers/switches for fiber connectivity.

The MCP-1000 will work with any brand of AV matrix routers/switches, including, but not limited to Extron, AutoPatch/AMC, Utah Scientific, PESA, Sierra Video/Kramer Electronics, NVision, and many others. A wide variety of audio/video/data interfaces is available in the MCP-1000, including, but not limited to, DVI, RGB, YPbPr, HD-SDI, SDI, S-video, composite video, 10/100 or Gigabit Ethernet, stereo audio, AES/EBU or SPDIF audio, RS-232/422, etc. In addition, the MCP-1000 comes with options for multimode or singlemode fiber, CWDM, 1+1 protection, etc.

Dr. Freddie Lin, CEO and President of BCI stated, "The MCP-1000 product reflects state of the art design work and is a result of customer requests to add fiber optic connectivity in their existing AV matrix routers/switches. The MCP-1000 AV media converter to AV router/switch in the Broadcast/Pro-AV industry is comparable to Ethernet media converter to Ethernet router/switch in the Information Technology (IT) industry. Generally, the Ethernet switch/router has all-copper interfaces to optimize cost savings, and a separate Ethernet media converter is used to provide "as needed" fiber conversion. The MCP-1000 is specifically designed for that same purpose, to maintain the lowest AV matrix router/switch equipment system cost, while adding fiber optic connectivity at will."
